Walker Winn's color-drenched, modern abstract paintings are immediately arresting. Expressing the depth of color is the defining element of Winn’s painting style. The use of resin with oil, a signature element in the work, strengthens the impact of each piece with enhanced color intensity and extreme sheen. The chemistry of pigment propels Winn in his quest for extreme color. Early works involved mixing paints and resin with concrete stain, oils, bubble solution, glass, pencil shavings, Styrofoam, and metallic egg tempera and then dripping the tinted resin mixtures on Masonite panels, found desktops and discarded shelving. Current investigations employ a heat gun to intensify oil pigments.
Working from studios on Barton Creek in Austin Texas, Walker and his twin brother Taylor Winn have exhibited together and separately at regional and national venues since 2005.
